Shouraizou - Shouraizou - Study Project & Study Tour to Japan 2004

Shouraizou committee
The Shouraizou committee was founded in the summer of 2003, when some active members of study association Scintilla decided that, after the huge success of predecessor ShinTabi in 2000, it was time for a new study project to start. It consists of 7 enthusiastic, ambitious and for the larger part very expierenced Electrical Engineering students, that voluntarily spend a year and a half of their study time on the organization of the study project. Name:
Arjen Damstra
Function:
Public Relations Officer
Background information:
Since his freshman's year in 2000, Arjen Damstra has been an active member of the study association Scintilla. He has been member of the yearbook-committee, and has organized the freshman's-introduction camp. Now, for the study project, he and Martin Wassink are both responsible to raise funds for the largest study project in the history of the University of Twente. In the little leisure time left, Arjen enjoys sailing.

Background information:
Bayan is the treasurer of Shouraizou. In the last three years, besides her study she has been a member of the freshmens parents-day committee, computer supplies purchaser for STORES (Scintilla's shop) and chairman of the yearbook committee. Moreover, she supervises the introduction of the female Electrical Engineering freshmen for PIP. She also enjoys playing basketball, reading books and listening to music.

Background information:
Erik was born on 11th March 1981 in Hengelo. He started his study in 2000. He became active at Scintilla in 2001 where he organizes a symposium and he is still member of the borrel, the most amusing committee. Erik is administrator of Shouraizou. Also he is responsible for this website and in partnership with Bayan he organizes a symposium. His hobbies are diving, skiing and going to the local "zomerfeesten" and pubs..

Background information:
Johan was born on 8th June 1983 in Nijmegen. Starting off his study at the University of Twente in 2000, Electrical Engineering was the study of choice. Next to a short sidestep in Aerospace Technology as a Minor, he is currently doing a Major in Microsystems and Microelectronics. Within the Shouraizou project, Johan is the Travel Coordinator and is responsible for arrangement of the excursions, accomodation, cultural highlights, etc. Johan is trying to become as good a Japanese speaker as possible within the couple of months left before Shouraizou leaves for Japan.

Background information:
Martin was born on 5th September 1981 in Alkmaar. After graduating from grammer school he started his study Electrical Engineering in 1999 at the University of Twente. Since his favorite sport is tennis and he is eager to learn more than only technical studies, he became member of the board of Tennis Club Ludica in the year 2001. Now having almost finished his bachelor degree he has joined the Shouraizou committee. Together with Arjen Damstra he is responsible for raising funds for the study project.

Background information:
Roland was born on 30th March 1981 in Almelo, only 20 km from the University campus. He started his study in 1999 and is currently doing his major in Optical Microsystems. After being active in both the yearbook and excursion-committee, he became a member of the board for study association Scintilla in 2002-2003. His hobbies include basketball, soccer, music and the visit of concerts.

Background information:
Siebe was born on 30th March 1981 in Assen but grew up in IJlst, Friesland. He started his study in 1999 in Leeuwarden and came to the Campus in September 2000. He became active at the university's sailing club Euros. He has been member of the board for a year and helped the club building her fanciest boat. Now, he manages the Research Project of Shouraizou and is busy with a major on Microsystems and Microtechnology. In his leisure time he can be found at the sailing club and he enjoys playing bass guitar.
